Understanding the UAF Grading System — And Why Your CGPA Number Matters

Every University of Agriculture Faisalabad student has heard the term CGPA thrown around, but not everyone understands exactly how it's calculated — or why a single low-credit course affects it differently than a high-credit one.

UAF uses an HEC-standard 4.0 grading scale:

• A (85–100%) → 4.00
• A- (80–84%) → 3.67
• B+ (75–79%) → 3.33
• B (70–74%) → 3.00
• B- (65–69%) → 2.67
• C+ (60–64%) → 2.33
• C (55–59%) → 2.00
• D (50–54%) → 1.00
• F (below 50%) → 0.00

Your CGPA isn't a simple average of these grade points — it's a weighted calculation. Each course's grade point is multiplied by its credit hours to produce "quality points," and your CGPA is the sum of all quality points divided by total credit hours attempted. A 4-credit course therefore moves your CGPA far more than a 2-credit elective with the same grade.
